My supply of sunscreen recently dwindled. Before I purchased more, I decided to see if I’m using the “right” brand.
Is it supposed to be reef friendly? Is it supposed to be human friendly? Can it be both? I was a little confused.
I’m still confused, but I found this really funny photo.
Now I’m confused and amused.
The article on the subject I liked best emphasized that if you don’t “like” your sunscreen, you’re not going to apply it as directed. Instead of maximizing all possible considerations, pick a decent product that you know you will put on your skin regularly.
So I bought what I’ve been using for a while– BanxBlock. I think it covers the bases as far as being mineral-based and reef friendly, and (bonus!) I shopped local. The company is based right here in Dare County.
BanxBlock is not for everyone. It can give you a ghostly white look. But that’s what I like about it. It’s kook-proof. If I can see where I’ve applied it, I know I won’t end up with some crazy beach yoga tan lines.
