Hi, I’m Patty. I moved from Washington DC to Southern Shores in 2005, and now I’m sharing my passion for yoga with my neighbors and with visitors to the Outer Banks.
My formal training at the Amalam School of Yoga immersed me in the literary history of yoga and introduced me to the prominent lineages that are widely practiced today. My broad area of focus is Hatha Vinyasa which links body movement with breathing. I received additional training in Kids Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and (my personal favorite) Ashtanga Yoga.
Regardless of the style, I believe there is no better place to practice outdoor yoga than the beaches of the Outer Banks. The sand, water and fresh air perfectly complement the release and growth you experience in a great yoga class.
I offer all my students a robust and well-balanced practice for the mind and body and use yoga to deliver some food for thought. I challenge my students, as well as myself, to try something new at each class–whether a new pose or a different point of view.
Since becoming a yoga teacher on the Outer Banks, I am continuously encouraged by the support and feedback I have received from residents and vacationers alike. If you are new to yoga, have lots of yoga experience or fall somewhere in between, it is my pleasure to bring my practice to you and to grow together.
When I am not teaching yoga classes on the Outer Banks, you will see me kite boarding or enjoying the beach with my husband and three children.
Thanks for learning a bit about me and my love for seaside yoga. I can’t wait to bring a class to you–on the beach, at your vacation home or in the studio!
